From Epstein to Iran: Trump’s Two Lies This Week Are Tearing at MAGA’s Core

July 2025 Wasn’t a Great Month for Transparency

There’s been a lot of talk about “misinformation” in recent years. But what happens when the people telling us not to trust misinformation… are the ones playing fast and loose with the facts?

This past week, two major stories broke—one about Jeffrey Epstein's infamous list and the other about an Iranian missile attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar—and in both cases, it looked like the current administration was hoping we’d all just forget they ever happened.

The Al Udeid Air Base Attack: What Really Happened?

On June 23rd, Iran launched a ballistic missile attack targeting Al Udeid Air Base, a vital U.S. military hub in Qatar. Of the 14 missiles fired, 13 were intercepted—but one slipped through and struck a critical structure: a $15 million geodesic dome used for secure communications.

Initially, the Pentagon said the base was never hit. But after satellite images revealed scorch marks and physical damage, they were forced to walk it back (AP News).

This wasn’t just a minor dust-up. It was a direct hit on U.S. military infrastructure in the Middle East—and the American people didn’t hear about it until weeks later. President Trump just referred to their response as week, not letting on at all that our base was hit. Not a good look for this administration following up the Epstein debacle.

Trump’s Epstein Distraction: Partisan Politics Over Justice

Just when the renewed interest in the Jeffrey Epstein case was gaining momentum—with the public asking real questions about who knew what, when—former President Trump decided to wade in with this:

Rather than call for transparency or accountability, Trump’s post leaned into partisan finger-pointing, trying to turn Epstein’s web of abuse into a Democrat-only scandal.

Let’s be clear: this is not a left vs. right issue. This is about power, exploitation, and a long-running effort to protect the elite over America’s children. Trump's attempt to make this political feels not only disingenuous, but like a betrayal of the very voters who put him in office to challenge those power structures.

By framing this in purely partisan terms, he's putting the elite first—the exact opposite of the “America First” message that defined his rise.

Meanwhile, Trump Is Losing His Grip on the MAGA Base

As if that weren’t enough, Trump’s core MAGA supporters are growing frustrated with his messaging and inconsistent positions. From foreign policy to Epstein, immigration to Ukraine, there’s growing concern that the former president is veering off-course.

Some longtime MAGA influencers have started pushing back, warning that his shift away from populist values could cost him the very movement he built.

The Big Picture: Credibility Matters

Whether you’re running a campaign, a military base, or just the country in general—credibility isn’t optional. It’s everything.

And this week, Americans got two reminders that the people in charge aren’t always being straight with us. From the Iran missile strike at Al Udeid to the politicization of Epstein’s crimes, it’s clear that too much is being hidden, spun, or deflected.

A government—and a would-be president—that’s afraid of the truth is one that can’t be trusted to lead. Let’s hope this week was a wake-up call.
